We are staying near the square, it is snowy and the sidewalks are slippery and steep. Jeff is worried I will fall and hit my head again, so they hold onto me tight. It is ok with me because I can slide while they hold me on either side. The girls say I am getting my skiing in for the year.
It is so strange to be back in Ukraine- So many memories. Wendy we walked by the Spa and the hot chocolate restaurant. Kostya told us it was a Russian bath. He didn't have to tell me, I KNOW!
We will have to go back for old times sake, the restaurant, NOT the Russian bath.
The apartment is worse than I remembered. It is good I brought the girls they are dying. They think it is so dirty. Ha ha ha! They laugh at the stove, the fridge and pretty much everything. They say Dnipro will be better. Ha ha ha ha! Those of you who have been will know why that is funny.
There is a stuffed lion in the living room of our apartment. The girls laughed at it and I reminded them that they used to decorate our family room with stuffed animals. Sara laughed and laughed, she said she forgot about that.
The girls are super excited to be back in Ukraine. They love the food. Lena ordered some gelatin nastiness at dinner and loved it. Super yuck!
Our Sda appointment is tomorrow. Kostya said they have changed a lot of laws so the process could be slower, bad news. He said for sure no waiving the 10 day wait now. He is 99% we only need one court, since they are brother and sister, good news! We will know for sure tomorrow after our SDA appt.

I am so glad you are there safe and sound!!!
ReplyDeleteLena I am so glad you are loven the food.
Sara are you having fun???
Love Mom R.
It sounds like you are settling in, even if the apartment is dirty. The lion is cute and so is Lena! I am glad that you are all hanging on tight as you walk around snowy Kiev. Maybe the snow and ice fills in all the sidewalk holes and so it may actually be safer to navigate Ukraine in the winter :) I hope the SDA appt goes well and that you get one court and 2 kids without a hitch. (I am talking about the adoption, not the kids.) The veggie jello doesn't make me want to run back to Ukraine but the Hot chocolate might. Have you tried the whipped cream dessert with prunes in it. YUM JK. I hope you find the temple and that the SDA is very nice to you. Say hi to Kostya for us.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear what happens next. We are excited for you.
Oh, please do not fall! I am laughing out loud about "Dnipro being better than Kiev" HA! HA! HA!
ReplyDeleteLove the lion, we're re-doing our living room, I 'll have to think about a possible animal motif?
Yum, I want some of that hot chocolate right now. But just thinking of the spa makes me clutch my hands over my bosom and cringe with embarrassment. Can you believe we did that? A bath house? Had Oxana used that word, I think we would have passed. The word she used was SPA!
Keep the pictures and blogging coming. Don't slip on the ice, fall in any man holes or eat any rolls filled with mystery meat!
I bet this is so much more fun the 2nd time around, especially with your girls!
Mom R. - Sara says she is having fun. She doesn't like that she can't drink the water. She says if it is dirty why do I have to shower? We went to the store and thought of you when we saw the milk in bag.
ReplyDeleteWendy, yes I agree bath house and spa big difference. Guy description verses a girls. Ha ha about the holes Christy. The ride was pretty smooth from the airport. Probably just Kiev.
ReplyDeleteThis is Jami Kassing. I just read your last few posts. I was wondering if this is the same Kostya we used? He is so awesome. He says some of the funniest things. Skip and I still laugh about it. Let me know if your translator is Luba. She is a taskmaster but very good at getting things done very quickly. I hope everything is goes well. I will be stalking your blog from afar. We will pray for you.
ReplyDeleteYes Jami they are the same I am sure. We haven't met Luba yet, just Kostya. He told us Luba is going with us to Dnipro. He is super nice.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! Dnepro will be cleaner????? I had culture shock when I got to Kiev and MAJOR culture shock when I got to Dnepro. No, it's not at all cleaner. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave fun will Luba. 'Nuff said. She is good at what she does. Just watch your pocketbook.
Keep blogging!!!!
Sounds like you're going to want some better boots! Just let me know. Hang on for the ride! Not just the slippery roads.
