Nothing like spending the day with Will to make everything seem better.
We have been working on passport stuff all week. We spent two days in Dnipro working on Alina's passport application, now we have been in Krivyi Rih working on Will's.
Hopefully we will get the applications submitted tomorrow.
Our tickets home are for March 14th. 14 days left in Ukraine. Yeah!! The end is in sight. If I don't make it home by then, Christy and Wendy I will take you up on your offers to come impersonate me.
Thankfully my stomach has calmed down and no more passing out. Aren't blessings the best? Hopefully it will keep me from turning into one of those ridiculous, fainting Jane Austen girls.
We were going to get Alina out of the orphanage on Mon. but we didn't have the right papers. By Tuesday she decided she was scared and begged to stay one more week in the orphanage. Poor kid! I think it is Mary, since clearly I am nice. :) We decided to get them both out next week.
So Lena hangs out with her friends at the orphanage and Mary and I spend the days in the car driving and waiting.
We have been playing lots of scrabble.

It is snowy here again this week, but thankfully, not as cold. Mary is glad.

Yay that you are better,Yay it's not so cold, Maybe Alina would rather go to school than dodge potholes all day in a car. I hope they both are ready to go when the times comes and everything goes smoothly, You deserve an easy passport experience :)
ReplyDeleteIf Lena is hanging out at her orphanage, see if they can help her track down the girl for the Meechams again.
Thank goodness you have Scrabble.
Can't wait to see you back in U T A H.
That's so great that you're feeling better! At the risk of sounding selfish, any details, yet, about Igor?
ReplyDeleteHang in there. You're almost done! :)
ReplyDeleteYou've almost made it, hang in there! Can't wait to see you.
ReplyDeleteYou're almost through it! So happy for you and your kids. Poor Alina. The life she has is the only security and joy she's ever had. In a year, she'll look back and wonder why she ever wanted to stay that 1 week. So many insecurities, but I can't think if a better family than yours to break those walls down.
ReplyDeletePS Yes clearly YOU are nice :) and so is Mary. It is hard to imagine Mary scaring anyone off? Post a picture of Alina's best friend and maybe someone will want to go and adopt her. Is anyone at Will's orphanage acting like they won't let him go?
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that things are moving along. Especially good to hear that your health has improved! Things are always easier to tackle when you feel well. I hope you don't mind I gave Anya your email, she said she adored your family and wishes you the best with the adoption! Straight from Jane Austen, Godspeed!
ReplyDeleteHa! Jane Austen girl. I love it!!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, glad you're feeling better.
How can Alina be afraid of Mary? Poor little scared rabbit. Not to be a doomsayer but 14 days? Wow. That seems long. It seems the new and improved adoption system just makes things longer and drawn out!
So, our old orphanage just lets Lena hang out? Does she go to class? Wow. Her Russian is going to be great!
Glad it's warmer. It's tried to snow with little success here. My kids are dying to go sledding. James took them up to the mountains last week.
Wish I was with you two. I could handle cold, dodging pot holes and foreign food for a few days - just to laugh and hang with you two! Perhaps you and Mary can find a spa? Just saying....
