Stuck in Latvia

We left for Germany today excited to see Diane.

I went through security at Ukraine airport with a pocket knife in my pocket. I didn't realize till after. Hmm makes you wonder about their metal detectors.

A strike in the Frankfurt airport left us stuck in Riga, Latvia.

Turns out Riga is nice and Lena and I had a fun day together.

On the tram to the hotel.

Yummy hot chocolate from a local cafe.

Lena's favorite thing. An old head stone from a church. She loved the skeleton's on them.

Thanks for the free tour of Riga, Air Baltic but we really want to see Diane, so we are hoping the strike ends tomorrow.

  1. Latvia looks charming. We have never been there and now it is on the travel list. I will travel half way across the world for yummy hot chocolate. I hope the strike ends and you get to Germany. I am not sure if Riga is cool enough for the whole 10 day wait. Maybe they have a train to Estonia (Talin.) Prague and Vienna are also very beautiful. I am sure you will be on your way very soon on your grand adventure!

    Have fun

  5. Well...I guess we'll wait and see if I end up in Germany or not. Maybe I'll be stuck in Paris and we can cover all of Eastern Europe being spread out:) Really though, I hope you get there tomorrow. I'm sure you would love to just be in one place for a few days without moving.
It is beautiful there though. I love the bread shop and cobble stone streets.
    Here's to another adventure!
